Determined Pedrosa 'feeling good' for Aragon

After a disastrous Misano, Dani Pedrosa faces a crucial weekend at Aragon in terms of his 2012 MotoGP title chances.

The Repsol Honda rider dropped from 13 to 38 points behind Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo after a nightmare chain of events ended with Pedrosa being taken out by Hector Barbera on the opening lap of the San Marino GP (pictured).

Pedrosa now needs to gain an average of 7.7 points per race on Lorenzo, over the remaining five events, to snatch the title from his fellow Spaniard.

It is thus vital that he at least beats Lorenzo this weekend - something Pedrosa achieved, in terms of the fastest overall lap, when Honda and Yamaha held at private test at Aragon in September.

Pedrosa, who will celebrate his 27th birthday on Saturday, has finished second in both previous Aragon MotoGPs.

“Aragon is a very good race and the circuit is impressive. We went there with the team for a two day test at the beginning of this month and we did a good job,” he said.

“However there are many circumstances which mean that we still have a lot of work ahead of us: depending on the heat or cold, or whether the track is dirty or clean...

“The weather will be important too. I hope it is fine this weekend, so [the fans] can enjoy the races. It seems that on the Friday there will be some rain, but let's see if we are lucky the rest of the weekend.

“We will also have to see what level our rivals have, assess the work that Yamaha did in the tests at Motorland, but in any case we have to concentrate on our own business.

“The bike is working well and I'm feeling good; we go there with the same determination as always and motivated to continue riding well and have another good race.”

Pedrosa and Lorenzo have both suffered one non-score, after being hit by another rider, this season. Lorenzo has won six of the 13 races, with Pedrosa claiming three wins.
