Lorenzo chasing first Aragon win

Jorge Lorenzo will seek to put the 2012 MotoGP title further out of Dani Pedrosa's reach by claiming a first victory at Aragon this weekend.

Lorenzo, whose championship advantage rocketed from 13 to 38 points after Misano, has finished fourth and third in his previous Aragon appearances.

But the Yamaha star was fastest on the final day of a recent test at the Spanish circuit - albeit with Honda rider Pedrosa quickest overall - and is targeting his seventh win of the season on Sunday.

“Aragon has not been the strongest track for us in the last two years, but I think we have found something in recent testing which will help us to be more competitive here,” said Lorenzo.

“We will try to make a good show for all the Spanish fans who come to see us and we will try to win.”

Team manager Wilco Zeelenberg also believes the testing data will prove profitable.

“Aragon has not been our best track previously however we should be more competitive this year,” said the Dutchman.

“We've got a good set up and a fast pace from the test recently so we're confident Jorge can be up there from the start.

“With just five races to go it's important we try to keep and grow as much of our Championship lead as possible, we need to be on the podium and win if possible!”

Three flyaway races in Japan, Malaysia and Australia will follow Aragon before the championship returns to Spain for the Valencia season finale.
