Solid practice form by sore Lorenzo
The Factory Yamaha star suffered stretched ankle ligaments when he was brought down by Alvaro Bautista, but was a close third in both track sessions in Germany. Lorenzo was 0.290s behind fellow Spaniard Dani Pedrosa in FP1, then a mere 0.099s from the Honda rider in FP2.
“I have more pain walking than on the bike which is good and adrenaline helps with it too. I'm not 100% and I get more tired in the upper body compensating, but I think we still did a good job this morning and this afternoon,” said Lorenzo.
“The injury, the loss of points and the loss of the engine makes it more difficult for the Championship but this just gives me more motivation to keep working and come back stronger to win.”
Team manager Wilco Zeelenberg confirmed there are no major set-up issues to solve.
“The bike feels good and is steering well so we'll see what we can improve for tomorrow,” he declared.
Casey Stoner, now tied with Lorenzo after his Assen win, was second and fourth quickest.
