Jorge Lorenzo would welcome Valentino Rossi return to Yamaha

JORGE LORENZO would welcome Valentino Rossi back at Yamaha, believing that it could be good for the factory team.

Following the surprise announcement that Ben Spies would leave the factory Yamaha team at the end of the season, internet speculation was overrun with discussions of whether Rossi could take his seat.

On Spies' decision, the Spaniard said: "It’s sad news to hear that Ben is not continuing. For Yamaha it’s really sad, because he has been a Yamaha rider for a long time. I think he has great potential, and I wish him good luck in the future. Now we have to see what is going to happen with the second rider in Yamaha."

Speaking on the rumours of who could take the second seat on a factory YZR-M1, the Tech 3 Yamaha pair of Andrea Dovizioso and Cal Crutchlow have also been attached, the 2010 MotoGP champion said: "I hear some rumours. And some rumours say that Valentino is going to come back.

"It could be a good thing for Yamaha. We have been a good couple in the past years, but it hasn’t been decided yet. My preference is to have a competitive rival in the team."

Where do you think Rossi should go next season?
