Hondas back on track as final day begins

Thursday, March 01, 2012

As expected, all four Honda riders were back on track for the start of Thursday's final day of the second MotoGP test at Sepang.

The RC213Vs were grounded on Wednesday while investigations continued into an engine problem for Repsol Honda's Dani Pedrosa at the end of day one.

The all-clear was received from Japan shortly after lunch time on day two, but by then rain had arrived at the Malaysian circuit and the decision was taken to sit out the entire day.

With more rain forecast for Thursday, all 15 riders present (Cardion AB's Karel Abraham is injured) unsurprising took to the track shortly after the 10am opening time.

Reigning world champion Casey Stoner, quickest at the first Sepang test and on day one of this week's return visit, went top on his first flying lap.

Yamaha's Jorge Lorenzo then briefly edged in front, before Stoner set a 2m 1.082s - the fastest time of the week - on his fourth lap, followed by a 2m 0.795s on his sixth lap.
